I’m crying in my car, for the fourth time today
Told my friends things were better, but that was yesterday
Cause now the weathers got me down
I’m trying to think of a way to explain
Where I’ve been and why my laugh doesn’t sound the same

Oh will I always feel this way?
Will I always feel this way?
Walk through the doors and I’m good, wear a smile like I should
Wipe the tears from my face, tell everybody things are so great
Oh will I always feel this way?

There’s nothing left to do, but talk to myself in the backseat
About how I think I’m going crazy, and there won’t be anyone to save me
When i’ve had enough of the view, grown bored of the city behind me
Can’t run from the person I’m becoming
Or the guilt that’s consuming
And i’ve tried everything, quit my job and spent all my money
Cut my hair three times in the last week, couldn’t make myself happy

Oh will I always feel this way?
Will I always feel this way?
Walk through the doors and I’m good, wear a smile like I should
Wipe the tears from my face, tell everybody things are so great
Oh will I always feel this way?

Too caught up in my head to stop now, i’m in the back of my car passed out
Are these the moments that coming of age movies talk about?
Cause it’s not pretty to watch the world you built crash down

Oh will I always feel this way?
Will I always feel this way?
Walk through the doors and I’m good, wear a smile like I should
Wipe the tears from my face, tell everybody things are so great
Oh will I always feel this way?

CANNxN - Will I Always Feel This Way? (Interview)

Interview

New song from CANNxN. We listened and liked it a lot. Thank you for being here again.

Tell us about yourself.

My new work revolves around the feeling of uncertainty that comes with growing out of adolescence. For the past year or so I’ve really struggled a lot with graduating school and balancing life and music, and it’s been hard to find out where I want to go and move forward with my creative energy. This uncertainty really manifested itself into constant anxiety and panic attacks that I couldn’t escape, and that’s where “Will I Always Feel This Way?” was born.

What are the main difficulties in being a new artist and how have you overcome it?

I think the main difficulty I face as an upcoming artist is finding what makes me different from everyone else. I think the music market is so saturated at this point, being different is the main way you can stand out. It’s important to be confident in what you do and know that your voice is bringing something new to the table, and as an upcoming artist I think that can be hard to remember sometimes.

What are your influences for the development of your music? Do you have any kind of influence today?

Working on this new music, my main influences were a lot of 2000s pop and modern alternative. I’m a big fan of the melodic structure and energy that a lot of the 2000s pop queens bring, and listened to a lot of Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, and Taylor Swift. As far as more current music that inspires my production and lyricism, I love the Wrecks and the Maine, as a DIY artist, I think that they are definitely inspiring because they have so much creative control over their own work.

What are the fundamental skills for the artist in the current scene?

I think a fundamental skill for newer artists right now is to be able to build a creative vision around their work. Whether it’s promotional materials, music videos, or even just social media posts, I think it’s important for people to see what’s in your head while you’re creating. A lot of the time artists are expected to release music very frequently to stay relevant, and while I do think it’s important, sometimes it feels empty. As a listener, I am the most intrigued when I know the story behind the music, and can see the visuals the artist imagined.

What projects are you working on right now?

Currently, I’m about to head into the studio to record some more music in a week or so. Definitely a lot of summery indie vibes with these newer tracks. I also recently was part of “Sound Off!” which is a Seattle area music competition which is exciting. Another thing I’ve been working on is shifting CANNXN from a solo project to more of a band dynamic, because I have some really great friends that I write really well with and love working with. There’s a lot coming!!

Leave a message for your fans.

Thank you for all the support I’ve gotten so far, I am forever grateful for anyone who takes the time to listen to my music. Feel free to connect over at @cannxnmusic and let me know what you think of the new tracks!
